2 years past, and everyone is still all wet eyed, and not doing anything to solve the problem. i'll summarize for anyone who was living in a cave on mars the last couple of years. Some guys flew a plane into some buildings and killed some people. So a white guy in a white house turns the land of the free into a kingdom of fear. he then goes about the world bombing innocent people and overturning two soveriegn nations, while turning the one that didnt elect him into a feudal nation run by his dad's corporate friends. lies are broadcast nightly to the people who are losing their jobs, getting poorer and poorer while their civil liberties are being taken away, day by day. the rich get rich, and bombs drop, while everyone is too scared to ask why, so they cheer.
ok ok, no more rant. its simple, sad event: people died. a terrorist some people call president goes out and kills innocent people. nothing changes.
though i don't have an answer, i am pointing out the problem. the problem is a fake war on terrorism, the problem is the patriot act, the problem is people believing what they are told and not searching out the truth, or the cause of why someone would fly a plane into a building.
the answer is not more dead bodies. if you are going to find one, it involves more information, not less.
this is a year old and does not represent myself as an artist right now, but the message is still relevant.

a well timed message and sadly, it is completely necessary. its true... its so tragic how quickly people shut themselves back up into everyday life the second an immediate threat is taken off the headlines in the news. we are a society revolutionized by 24/7 accessible information yet we are strangely impotent when it comes to all things important.
thanks for bringing this up i guess. i think the vast majority of people feel somewhat disenfranchised and powerless politically nowadays... and instead of resisting the trend, they have made the natural decision to control what they can: their immediate surroundings, and nothing else.
i dont mean to be negative. people are rational for the most part... but laziness and fear often offsets the best of intentions.
timed well along with the recent roadshow of Mr. Ashcroft (a man I consider the most dangerous threat to democracy and civil stability in the US since McCarthy)
however, there is one section in your rant I find very 'gray'...Afghanistan was not 'sovereign' by any stretch. It was a balkanized mess of porous borders and conflicted fiefdoms which were essentially and incubation zone for terrorism and illicit arms/drugs trade (although the arms trading has been moving to the no mans land in the area within northern Argentina, the 'guays and Brazil admittedly). There was no internally recognized government within the area of Afghanistan. And while that may or may not be justification for the actions taken (I personally supported the war on Afghanistan but did not Iraq ptII), I am hard pressed to give Afgahnistan the same status as Iraq (which I found personally worth inducing regime change - just not in the manner in which it was conducted, and is being continued to this day with poor results and questionable moving forward but also lacking any sensible or clear exit strategy).
Let's not forget that the ignorant fuck who stole his way into office can now HOLD SOMEONE IN JAIL INDEFINITELY FOR NO REASON AT ALL. Until the supposed " War on terrorism" is over, and how exactly do you win a made up war? Let's not forget, it's not just him. People get sidetracked and they say, " well blight, at least Bush is a total retard, how much harm can he do" He's done plenty already, but imagine if we got an INTELLIGENT tyrant, with the same ability? As the man you quoted in the above piece once said:
"What? the land of the free? Whoever told you that is your enemy."
I agree whole heartedly with your argument and while this isn't your best work it still illustrates the point nicely. I really like the collage on top of the flag but I don't like the typography much to be honest.
The war on terrorism is akin the the war on drugs. Both are a devices of deception and distraction. Their stated goals a smoke screen to fulfill corporate agendas, further the interests of the rich and maintain the status quo.
